Meet Peter. Designer and Engineer behind the Pogo Connect. Needless to say, he's got quite a few hours invested in Pogo Connect-- slaving over code, soldering irons, and circuit boards. The result is some amazing new technology and killer features. For him, product development is more than just getting a product on the market, it's about building products that you didn't know you've been missing.

Obviously, Peter will tell you each part of Pogo Connect is indispensable. But one particular feature is his pride and joy. So, want to win a Pogo Connect before they ship to anyone else? It's simple: guess Peter's favorite feature of Pogo Connect and it could be yours. To enter, submit your best guess to info@tenonedesign.com by 9/19.

Rules and Regulations: All entries must be submitted by midnight 9/19/12. If an entry has more then feature, only the first feature listed will qualify. If the designer's favorite feature is not guessed, there will be no winner.  In the occurrence of a tie, Ten One Design will select a winner at random. Winner will be announced on 9/20 via Twitter. Any discrepancies, it's our call.

Didn't win? Pre-orders open October 1st.

This release closes a few bugs in T1PogoManager. There are no changes to the API. Updating is recommended for all apps in preparation for iOS 6. Changes

  • Fix - Increased reliability of connections bridged to older iPads via an iPhone 4S or later.
  • Fix - Fixed potential crash due to CoreBluetooth API changes in iOS 6 beta 4.
  • Fix - Fixed crash related to NSNotification center when app is backgrounded after T1PogoManager is released.

Project Update - The final sneak-peek email goes out tomorrow. It'll feature a teaser for the upcoming Pogo Connect video. We're getting extremely close to a formal announcement, and excitement is building here. Most importantly, we're now seeing the combination of final hardware, firmware, and application support. The results are incredible. If you've been a part of that, thank you.

The updated SDK and demo project are available here.

Every time we release an updated Pogo SDK the title has an exclamation mark. We can't help ourselves, and now that we've finally arrived at version 1.0, we hope you'll share in our excitement! Featured changes

  • Pen sharing between apps - Your user can switch back and forth between different apps, and the pen will transfer quickly between them without any extra effort. Cool, eh?
  • iOS 6 compatibility - It's coming. We're ready.
  • Updated Pen Scanning Popover - The look and messaging has been cleaned up a little, and it now includes a new radar view to find a lost pen.
  • Project Update - This is the biggest news this week. Now that we're at 1.0, we can't wait to start seeing the compatible apps begin to go live.

There is a lot to tell you about Beta 4. This is the last pit stop before the release candidate, and it's now feature-complete. Let's dig in!

  • Better auto-connect - Your user will only see the connection UI once. It will auto-connect thereafter. If that's one too many times, there's a slick new way to watch for new pens and handle connecting in the background. Check out the pogoManager:didDiscoverNewPen:withName: delegate example in the demo project.
  • Changes to delegate method names - If you're opting in to any delegate methods, update to the new standardized naming convention. Also note new delegate method pogoManager:didChangePressureWithoutMoving:forPen:.
  • Fun new proximity detector - You really don't need to do this, but hey why not? Call startPenLocatorWithAudio: and have a little fun.
  • New pressure profiles - It's optional, but you can specify how a T1PogoPen reacts to pressure with setPressureResponse:. Choices are T1PogoPenPressureResponseLinear (default), T1PogoPenPressureResponseLight, and T1PogoPenPressureResponseHeavy.
  • Optimized pressure range - This release improves pressure range for pens with firmware version 0.5.0 or later. If your pen is 0.4.0 or earlier, it will still work for testing purposes, but may not be able to reach a very low or very high pressure output. Also the pressure output may occasionally stutter. You do get mad early adopter cred, though. On the other hand, if you're reading this, early adopting may not seem so unusual :)
  • General Xcode project info - The file organization has shifted around a little. It's probably best to remove the old library, and re-add this one. GameKit.framework is no longer necessary, but you'll need to add AVFoundation.framework. T1PogoDelegate was broken out to a separate header file because it got too awesome. Be sure to include that if you use it.
  • iOS 6 - We can't wait for iOS 6. Nearly instant connections, better battery life, faster performance, and easy sharing of the pen between apps. The iOS 6 beta 1 isn't quite ready for prime-time yet, so keep working with the latest 5.x if you can. Our next release will have full support for 6.
  • Project Update - We're happy to say the design has passed a large regulatory hurdle, and is waiting for official certification. Things are kicking into gear, and we'll be contacting each of you with our launch plans.

The updated SDK and demo project are available here.

As promised, we've decided to show you a product we developed, but didn't end up releasing. This is called Puzzle Case. It's a fun 2-part case design for iPhone 4S.

This case converts into a stand for facetime or movies. You'll probably not use it that much - mostly it's here to look interesting.

As much as we'd like to see this be a real product, it just doesn't work for us. I guess one day we'll be huge and have an office full of drones who can ramp up production, do nice photography, make a retail box, push it down the throats of our retail partners, ect. That's so not us, though. We're very small, and we'll always discard the ideas that we've seen before. So yes, this may be the world's first puzzle case, but it's not the world's first case with built-in stand. Not even close.
