Help with Inklet
Inklet
Uninstalling Inklet
  • Uninstall Inklet:
Drag Inklet from your Applications folder into the trash
  • Disable Handwriting Recognition:
If you have enable handwriting recognition, here's how to get rid of it:
  • From the Inklet general preferences, click Disable in the Handwriting Recognition section.
  • To remove the Ink item from your system preferences, open it, then turn handwriting recognition on, then off again. Then next time you open your system preferences, it will be gone.
  • To remove the pen icon from the toolbar, command-drag it off the toolbar. It will disappear in a ‘poof’.

Inklet Tips and Questions

I'm drawing, but nothing is showing up!

Make sure you have a drawing program open under Inklet. Compatible programs are listed a few questions down. Also, make sure you have a pen tool selected in your program, and you're not trying to draw with white on a white background. That never works.

How can I draw without a Pogo Sketch?

Yes, if you're using Inklet 1.1 or later, just change the drawing tool to 'finger' in the Inklet drawing preferences. It's not as easy, but it's possible.

Does Inklet come with a Pogo Sketch?

The Pogo Sketch is sold separately, but there is a bundle available (Inklet + Pogo Sketch) for a discounted price.

Does Inklet work with the Magic Trackpad?

Yes. If an internal trackpad is not available, Inklet will automatically detect and use a connected Magic Trackpad. Inklet works best on internal trackpads, as pressure sensitivity is limited on the Magic Trackpad.

What programs is Inklet compatible with?

Here's a quick list of the programs we've tested with. However, we do expect full compatibility with all drawing programs.
  • Pixelmator
  • Acorn
  • Art Rage
  • Circus Ponies NoteBook (setup video)
  • Aperture 3
  • Lightroom
  • Photoshop (all versions)
  • Photoshop Elements
  • SketchBook Pro
  • GIMP
  • Inkscape (enable extended input with caligraphy tool)
  • Formulate Pro
  • Skim
  • Scribbles
  • Corel Painter
  • PDFPen
  • Illustrator
  • CADintosh
  • GraphicConverter
  • Word '08 choose View->Notebook Layout, choose scribble tool

It looks like "Start inking with pressure" isn't working?

Make sure you're running the latest version of Inklet. If so, check that the drawing tool is set correctly in Preferences/Drawing: to 'Pogo Sketch' or to 'finger,' depending on what you're using to draw. Please note that Photoshop CS3 does not recognize Inklet as a tablet and is unable to respond to the pressure information. You will still be able to draw but will not have pressure sensitivity with CS3.

Does Inklet do all that Autograph does, or will I need to purchase both?

If you're looking to sign a document, Autograph is definitely the way to go.   Inklet is really great for drawing or sketching, but it's not designed specifically for signing things like Autograph is.

There is one exception, however.  If you're signing a PDF document, it's pretty easy to open it in Skim (a free PDF editor), and draw right on the document with Inklet.  For example, you could mark up the document with changes, sign it, then save it.

Help!  A yellow sheet keeps appearing, and I can't draw.

Look for the pen icon in your top toolbar.   This is the handwriting recognition program built into Mac OSX.

Click on the pen icon, and deselect "Write Anywhere."   This will stop the operating system from intercepting the inklet events.   Inklet should now act normally and draw into any compatible program.
