magnetic tip

Today's launch of the new Pogo Connect tip collection was exciting. What a relief to finally share the tips and brushes we've been working on for so long. Launch days are never uneventful, and today was no exception. Around 3 pm we began to notice that a few of our R2 tips were not absolutely perfect. blog_r2_deflated When given a good hard pinch with fingers, a small number of our the tips were compressing (expected), but then not decompressing (very unexpected!). In fact, once compressed, one or two of the tips would stay puckered for hours. Tip-pinching is not widely practiced in our part of the country, but we did realize it might happen from time to time when removing the tip from the magnetic grip of the pen. Although a launch day is probably the worst day for this kind of discovery, there was only one course of action. We had to stop selling the tips - at least temporarily. We considered the possibility of fixes that could be made on-the-fly so we could get back up and running quickly. Putting a small hole in the rubber tip works, but then you have a small hole in the rubber tip, so we began working on a better, permanent, and long-term fix. blog_r2_fix The idea of venting the tip cavity is not completely new. Our first iteration of this tip design used a venting feature through the middle of the tip. However, after testing many pre-production samples, it seemed certain that the venting hole was not necessary. We've since learned otherwise! The updated design has been completed and sent to manufacturing. The engineering turnaround time was about 4 hours - a good example of how it's awesome sometimes to work for a hyper-small company that can move quickly. For those of you who have already ordered the R2 tips, we will still be sending them to you, but we'll also send extras to make sure you have enough that work well. For everyone else, we'll keep this post updated with the expected ship date of the revised tips as soon as we have it nailed down. [Update] We're looking good for shipping by October 14! We hope this last-minute change of plans does not inconvenience you too much, and we'd like to thank you for your patience as we take the time to get it right. Absolutely, exactly, and thoroughly right. Now that the tip design change is completed, there's another small project requiring our urgent attention. Cheers, Ten One blog_18
